Play OverviewPlay Overview

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024) is an action game where you play the renowned archaeologist on a globe-trotting adventure. As you travel from your university to the Vatican and Egypt's pyramids to Sukothai's temples, you uncover a murky Nazi plot. It's an interactive Indy adventure, complete with eccentric villains, ancient temples, traps, and extravagant action setpieces that make it stand out beyond its well-known hero.

Set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, you awake at Marshall College to find a seemingly innocuous artefact stolen by Nazis. You head off to the Vatican City where you learn of an ancient conspiracy: the Great Circle - all the world's ancient religious sites forming a perfect circle around the globe. You must uncover the Nazi plans, and race to stop them by travelling the world, fighting thugs, and infiltrating ancient temples to learn their secret histories.

Play involves moving through the environment by walking, scaling buildings, and solving environmental puzzles similar to those found in the films. From a first-person perspective, you fight off enemies using guns, fists, and your trusty whip, which can also be cracked to distract guards and used to climb up the side of buildings and cliffs. Punctuating the experience are climatic action setpieces that see you jump between flying planes and pull off classic Indy stunts.

The result is a game that recreates the adventure and style of the five Indiana Jones films while putting you in direct control of the titular hero. Surviving death-defying feats, punching Nazis, and infiltrating ancient tombs while on an international adventure makes for an engaging and entertaining gameplay experience.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 16 for Violence. This game contains depictions of strong and realistic-looking violence towards human characters. When hit, enemies flinch and jerk backwards. They can be heard grunting in pain and often will put their hands up in order to defend themselves or to grip at their injury. For the most part, there are no blood or injury details. However, there are a few moments when enemies are struck and small sprays of blood can be seen. When defeated, enemies collapse and fall to the ground. The player is able to use their whip or fire a pistol in order to scare off a guard dog which attacks them. At no point is the dog hit and nor does it show any pain reactions in response to this. Dogs cannot be killed in the game. The game also contains implied violence: the player will have to fly a plane and shoot at enemy planes. The planes catch fire and flames and smoke can be seen before they crash to the ground. Although the player is aware that humans would be on board these planes, no injuries are to people are shown. This game also contains use of bad language including ‘p*!s’, ‘b%$@*!d’, ‘s%$t’ and ‘goddamn’. This game contains imagery of alcohol. For example, bottles will be seen on desks and can be used as weapons. At one point, in a church, the player must pour wine onto an altar. However, at no point is the player able to consume this. There are some moderate horror sequences and disturbing images. At times, the player will find themselves in environments in which temples start crumbling and collapsing. There is a sense of danger as the player must run and escape to safety.

Rated for younger players in the US. Rated ESRB TEEN for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Mild Language and Violence. Players explore various locations (e.g., catacombs, tombs, ruins) while solving puzzles and engaging in hand-to hand combat against enemy soldiers. Players can perform stealth attacks and whip attacks to take out enemies discreetly. Players can occasionally use rifles, machine guns, and objects (e.g., shovels, brooms) kill enemies. Combat is accompanied by impact sounds, realistic gunfire, and small blood-splatter effects. One sequence depicts a severed arm on the ground; another sequence depicts a corpse impaled on a spike trap, with small blood stains. The text in the game briefly references drugs (e.g., “I tried morphine; but the drug has given only transient surcease"; “Do not think from my slavery to morphine that I am a weakling..."). The words “a*s,” “b%$@*!d,” and “p*ss” are heard in the game.

Skill Level

11+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. The globe-trotting adventure appeals to children and adults alike, but the combat and gunplay, as well as some of the puzzles, require precise use of controls and clever, outside-the-box thinking.
