Play Overview
You start with a small number of bees and must earn honey by supplying them with pollen from the fields. This honey can be used to purchase eggs that hatch into different types and rareties of bees. You can also use royal jelly to level up your current bees and gain better movement, collecting capacity and energy.
Play is a combination of collecting pollen from the flower fields and making decisions about how and when to spend your money. Getting things in the right order ensures you maximise your progress but there are always multiple things you can spend on.
As you progress, you learn how best to progress your colony. For example, matching the right colour of bee with specific types of flower fields. Or focusing on levelling some bees up to be able to take on critters you encounter. Or maybe just go for the largest hive so you can explore further afield for treasure and defeat dangerous bugs and monsters.
The result is a compelling pollen-collecting loop. However, the real enjoyment is learning how the different systems work with (and against) each other so you can maximise production. This leads to considerable research outside the game, and the realisation that the honey-making ceiling is astronomically high.
